Deliciously Creamy Peas

A simple and delightful side dish that elevates frozen peas with a rich, creamy sauce, perfect for any meal.

  • 2 cups Frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil about a cup of water in a medium pot and add the frozen peas. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until bright green and tender. Drain the peas and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the all-purpose flour, stirring to combine. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Gradually pour in the whole milk while stirring continuously. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  4. Add the salt and pepper, and optional sugar if desired. Stir to combine.
  5. Gently fold in the cooked peas, ensuring they’re well coated. Heat through for 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure peas remain bright and tender, and adjust sauce thickness to preference with additional milk.
