- 1 rib Celery (chopped)
- 1 small Onion (chopped)
- 1/2 cup Butter (cubed)
- 3 cups Day-old bread (cubed)
- 1/4 cup Fresh parsley (minced)
- 1 teaspoon Poultry seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Rubbed sage
- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
- 1 large Egg (beaten)
- 1 cup Chicken broth
- 1 cup Shucked oysters (drained and coarsely chopped)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Ingredients by chopping the celery and onion and cubing the day-old bread.
- Sauté vegetables in melted butter until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
- Combine cubed bread, sautéed vegetables, parsley, poultry seasoning, sage, and pepper in a large bowl.
- Gently fold in chopped oysters.
- Whisk egg and chicken broth together, then pour over the mixture and combine thoroughly.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use quality oysters for the best flavor. You can also experiment with different types of bread and add your favorite vegetables.
